Install both Scan125 programs and keep a backup.

Scan125Convert maps selected CSV columns into Scan125's program-data format. Scan125 Control then connects to the scanner and transfers that converted data.

1Install the current Scan125 Control Program and Scan125Convert from Nick Bailey's official website.
2Connect the UBC125XLT and save its existing channel data before replacing memories.
3Keep the supplied ScanLocal CSV unchanged so its row and column numbers match this guide.

Important: The UBC125XLT cannot decode digital voice, so confirmed digital-only rows are omitted. Mode-not-stated and data/other assignments within its receive bands remain available as tuning entries.

Use these exact Scan125Convert settings.

  1. 1

    Select the scanner model

Open Scan125Convert and select UBC125XLT under Scanner Model Select.

  2. 2

    Choose the separators

Select Comma as the CSV separator and Point as the decimal point, then use File to open the supplied ScanLocal CSV.

  3. 3

    Set the first data row

Set CSV Data Starts on Row Number to 02. Row 01 contains the column headings and must not be converted into a channel.

  4. 4

    Map the three columns

Set Frequency Is In Column Number to 03, Modulation Is In Column Number to 04 and Name/Alpha Tag Is In Column Number to 02.

  5. 5

    Confirm the frequency format

Choose the MHz frequency format shown as nnnn.nnnn MHz. The supplied frequency values are already expressed in MHz.

  6. 6

    Create the Scan125 data file

Choose the starting bank and channel you want, then select Create Scan125 Data File. Keep the generated output file unchanged.

  7. 7

    Send it with Scan125 Control

Open the converted program-data file in Scan125 Control, review the channels, connect the scanner and use the program's load/send function to transfer them.

Confirm the column map and available scanner memories before transfer.

Mapped correctly

The preview shows names from column 02, MHz frequencies from column 03 and modulation from column 04 rather than shifted headings or fields.

Fits the radio

The UBC125XLT has 500 memories. Select a suitable subset and starting bank if the supplied conversion list contains more rows than the free memories available.

Transfer completed

Scan125 Control finishes without a connection error and the expected names and frequencies appear in the intended banks.

Restore your backup: Open the Scan125 backup made before conversion and send that saved data back to the scanner. Do not reuse a partially converted file as the rollback copy.

If conversion or transfer does not look right.

Names and frequencies are mixed up

Recheck the mapping: Name is column 02, Frequency is column 03 and Modulation is column 04.

The header appears as a channel

Set the data starting row to 02. The first row contains headings, not scanner data.

Frequencies are rejected

Select Point for the decimal mark and the MHz frequency format. Do not multiply the supplied values or change them to hertz.

Scan125 Control cannot see the scanner

Reconnect the USB cable, confirm the correct COM port and driver, and close any other scanner program using the same connection.

A receive-band CSV for the tested conversion map.

The ScanLocal CSV places channel number, name, frequency and modulation in predictable columns so Scan125Convert can create a program-data file without manual retyping.

The output remains a conventional discovery list and is not capped to the scanner's 500 memories. Review the starting bank, choose the rows you want and check available memory space before sending it to the scanner.

Questions

Why do I receive a CSV instead of the final scanner file?

The CSV is a portable input for Scan125Convert. That utility creates the Scan125 program-data file used by Scan125 Control.

Which column numbers should I use?

For an unchanged ScanLocal file use row 02, Name column 02, Frequency column 03 and Modulation column 04.

Which Ofcom assignments are included?

Every selected assignment within the UBC125XLT's documented receive bands is eligible except rows confirmed as digital-only, which this scanner cannot decode. Analogue, mode-not-stated and data/other rows remain available.

Can I choose a different starting bank or channel?

Yes. Select a safe starting position in Scan125Convert after checking which memories are already used. Back up the scanner first.
